Leasing, a car loan, or long-term rental with a buyout? A comparison for private buyers

A loan gives you ownership from day one, but your creditworthiness is checked and you are committed for years. A lease only adds up if you run a business. Buy&Rent is the third route, and it is not rental with a buyout option: it is a car purchase on preferential rent terms, where you sign the purchase agreement straight away and a deposit from 10 percent locks the price for the whole term. You drive a car under warranty, with no BIK check, and you set the pace of capital repayment yourself. The choice comes down to one question: how soon the car has to be formally in your name.
Three routes to a car and how they differ
Who it is for. Car loan: private individuals and companies. Operating lease (leasing operacyjny): mainly companies. Purchase on preferential rent terms (Buy&Rent): private individuals and small business owners.
Creditworthiness. Car loan: required, with an entry in the national credit register (BIK). Operating lease: usually required. Buy&Rent: we do not check it.
Ownership of the car. Car loan: immediately. Operating lease: after the buyout. Buy&Rent: whenever you decide.
Contract length. Car loan: several years. Operating lease: 24–60 months. Buy&Rent: 2–18 months.
Condition of the car. Car loan: any. Operating lease: usually new. Buy&Rent: new and nearly new, under warranty.
Getting out early. Car loan: difficult and expensive. Operating lease: limited. Buy&Rent: return it or sell it.
A car loan: ownership, but a rigid frame
A loan gives you the car outright from day one. You pay for that with a creditworthiness assessment, an entry in the credit register (BIK) and a repayment schedule usually spread over several years. When your situation changes, getting out can be expensive.
It makes sense when you have a stable income, you plan to drive the same car for a long time, and a multi-year commitment does not bother you.
Leasing: it adds up in a company, less so for a private buyer
Inside a company, an operating lease earns its keep through deductible costs and partial VAT recovery. From 1 January 2026 the limit on what you can book as a tax-deductible cost depends on CO₂ emissions, not on what the drivetrain is called: PLN 100,000 for emissions of 50 g/km and above, PLN 150,000 below 50 g/km and PLN 225,000 for electric and hydrogen cars. Check this in the paperwork of the specific vehicle, because some plug-in hybrids exceed 50 g/km and fall into the lower limit.
Contracts signed in 2024 and 2025 are not protected. For operating leases and rentals the new limits apply from January 2026 regardless of the signing date, because a leased car never enters your fixed-asset register (ewidencja środków trwałych). The old limits are kept only by cars you own and entered into that register by the end of 2025, meaning cars bought for cash, on a loan, or under a finance lease (leasing finansowy). If you are accounting for an operating lease from previous years, run the numbers again with your accountant.
For a private individual none of this arithmetic works, because there is nothing to deduct. All that is left is the installment.
A purchase on preferential rent terms: flexibility without a multi-year commitment
Buy&Rent is signed as two contracts on the same day, a rental agreement and a purchase agreement. The purchase is the default path, and the deposit locks the price from day one. We do not assess creditworthiness and nothing is reported to the registers. The monthly rent is an administrative fee plus interest on the remaining capital, and the capital itself is repaid quarterly, so the rent falls with every quarter.
The difference sits in the moment of the decision. With a loan or a lease you make it before you drive the first kilometre. Here you make it after two, six or twenty months behind the wheel.
How this differs from other "no BIK" offers
A handful of Polish companies offer rentals without a BIK check, but usually in a different form: cars up to seven years old and contracts of 36 or 60 months. That is a solution for someone who cannot get financing anywhere else.
Online car sales platforms, on the other hand, do have new cars, except that their consumer leasing brings you back to square one, which is a check of your credit history.
With us you drive a car under warranty, the deposit starts at 10 percent, and the contract runs from 2 to 18 months. The absence of a BIK check is not us turning a blind eye to your history. It is because a rental is not a credit product.
What to choose
You are creditworthy and you want one car for years. Run the numbers on a loan, it often comes out cheapest.
You run a company and account for costs. Sit down over a lease with your accountant, but check the CO₂ emissions of your model.
You want a new car, no BIK check and no half-decade contract. That is a car purchase on preferential rent terms.
Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions
Is rent-to-own more expensive than a car loan?
It depends on how long you intend to drive. Over a shorter period and with frequent car changes, Buy&Rent usually works out cheaper, because you are not paying up front for full ownership. For one car kept eight years, the loan wins.
Will I benefit from leasing as a private individual?
Probably not. The tax benefits of leasing apply to companies, and a consumer has nowhere to account for them.
Do you check BIK?
No. We do not assess creditworthiness and we do not report the contract to the credit registers (BIK). What matters at the start is the deposit and the car itself, not your history in the registers.
How long do I have to drive before I decide?
A minimum of two months, a maximum of twenty-three. You can buy the car out at any point within that period.
